Karl Ostrom and Mary Rose
are Co-Directors of NBIS (The Network for Business Innovation
and Sustainability), a non-profit organization serving as
a catalyst for Profitable Sustainability through
education, innovation and implementation services.
Karl and Mary coordinated the highly successful conference
Profitable Sustainability; The Future of Business
in September 2004, which focused on the business case and
value proposition of sustainable business, as well as on concrete
implementation tools and strategies. NBIS supports leadership
in sustainability through comprehensive sustainability implementation
services, workshops, peer-to-peer activities and customized
training.
NBIS creates solutions for companies and organizations seeking
to implement sustainable practices and provides opportunities
for business leaders to discuss issues and best practices
in selective peer-to-peer settings.
Karl’s background includes organization development
and consultation with businesses, universities, non-profit
organizations, municipalities and religious institutions.
He is a guest professor in sustainable business at Seattle
University and the Leadership Institute of Seattle and serves
as a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Creative
Change at Antioch University Seattle. Mary has over twenty
years of experience in organizational development, education,
and public relations. Her experience includes positions with
Columbia University, Lakeside School, The Little School and
the University of Washington.
NBIS members include Fortune 500 companies, small businesses,
entrepreneurs, civic and education leaders, and sustainability
pioneers.
